Interview Tips and Tricks From a Recruiter
By Marina Setaro
Approach your next interview with confidence using these tips from a recruiter! A few small changes can take your interview from average to astounding. If you put in the work and prepare accordingly, you have the potential to make a great impression on your interviewer.
1. Make sure you have done research on the facility and the surrounding area. This can help you prepare for the common interview question “Why do you want to come work for us?” It is important to highlight any connections you have to the area, especially if you will be relocating. Tell the interviewer what makes this particular position attractive to you.
2. Have a copy of your resume in front of you. Highlight your past experience and why you would be a good fit for them. How does your background relate to the work you will perform in this new position? What are your transferable skills?
3. Have a few questions prepared to ask at the end of the interview. This will further exemplify your interest in the position and will let the interviewer know that you are serious about the role. These questions can be about what qualities they are looking for in their ideal candidate, what the next steps in the process are, what equipment they use at their facility, etc.
4. Follow up with a thank you email that includes a few points you learned in the interview. This is a great way to keep the dialogue going between you and the hiring team, and it can distinguish you from candidates who fail to do the same.
Overall, take a deep breath, and recognize that this is your time to shine! Put your best foot forward with confidence, and you will make a great impression!
